illinois general assembly statutes Rep. Jimenez thanks Sangamon County students for their donation of the Minute Book on House Floor

Representative Jimenez gave her colleagues in the House the opportunity to view the Sangamon County Minute of 1835 which has an entry attesting that Abraham Lincoln was a man of “good moral character.” This piece of history was purchased through a fundraising campaign by the school children of Sangamon County. The students collected more than 1.8 million pennies to acquire this piece of history and gifted it to the State of Illinois for the state’s 200th birthday.
