Anne Boudreau’s exhibition, Points of Reference, is a body of mixed media constructions incorporating patterning, fabric manipulation and various techniques of stitching and wrapping. This series, much as her art making in general is, draws inspiration from the natural world and a belief that “all things are connected, nothing is separate, and the only constant thing is change.”
Boudreau is a visual artist, curator, arts educator and native of New Orleans currently living in Lafayette, Louisiana. For twenty years, she has been professionally exhibiting her art and actively participating in the cultural communities where she resides. She has been affiliated with Baton Rouge Gallery since serving as the gallery’s Executive Director from 1990-1993 before becoming an artist member of the gallery in 1998. Since roughly that time, she has focused most of her studio energy toward making unique installation environments from her suspended mixed media fabric constructions. Boudreau holds a B.F.A. from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a M.F.A. from the University of South Carolina and has received fellowships from the South Carolina Arts Commission, taught and curated at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, and was invited as an artist-in-residence at the 701 Center for Contemporary Arts (Columbia, SC).
